Platinum Control High-Efficiency VRUs Selected by Large Operator in the Rockies
A major upstream operator purchased 51 new Platinum Control Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs) to support expansion efforts in Colorado's DJ Basin
Platinum Control made custom upgrades to its high-efficiency VRUs and passed along the savings from economies achieved at its Midland manufacturing facility
Installation and local servicing will be handled by Western Sky Energy Partners, a trusted partner of Platinum Control
MIDLAND, TX, GREELEY, CO (November 12, 2024) – Platinum Control today announced that a leading Oil and Gas operator purchased 51 new Platinum Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs) to equip facilities in Colorado’s DJ Basin and support its ongoing asset development program. The high-efficiency VRUs will be installed and maintained by Platinum’s partner, Western Sky Energy Partners, headquartered in Greeley, Colorado
The new units will enable the operator to meet stringent emissions regulations while also generating additional profits from the sale of valuable, BTU-rich tank vapor gas that would otherwise have been wasted through flaring. The operator chose Platinum Control’s standard high-efficiency VRU design and included custom upgrades to meet internal specifications for handling the higher liquids content typical of the region's gas production.
“This recent VRU sale is exciting for Platinum Control on several fronts,” said Jack Samis, Co-CEO of Platinum Control. “Colorado has some of the most stringent emissions regulations in the country, and our proven high-efficiency VRU technology helps operators not just comply, but also recover what is usually the most valuable gas stream on the well site, converting what was considered a waste stream into revenue. By leveraging the capabilities of our new fabrication and manufacturing facility in Midland, we can make custom upgrades to our high-efficiency units at a lower cost and pass the savings along to our customers. That helps them conserve capital resources while improving facility efficiency.”
The operator, having previously utilized Platinum Control VRUs, turned to Platinum once again to maximize the operational efficiency and value of their producing assets. A crucial factor influencing their decision was Western Sky Energy Partners' reputation for delivering timely, professional, and expert service.
